Dear Hornet Families,

Have you ever wondered how families can have a voice in what happens at Hernando Elementary? One way is through our School Advisory Council (SAC)! SAC is a group made up of school staff, parents, community members, and other stakeholders who work together to support the success of our students and school. Our SAC helps provide input on important school priorities, programs, and our School Improvement Plan (SIP). It is an opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, learn more about what is happening at HES, and work together to make our school the best it can be for every Hornet.

So, who can participate? You! While SAC has members who serve as representatives of different groups within our school community, all HES families are welcome and encouraged to attend our meetings. You do not have to be an expert in education or know anything about school improvement plans to participate. We want to hear from the people who know our students best, our families and community.

Our next School Advisory Council meeting will be Monday, September 21, at 4:15 PM at Hernando Elementary School. We would love to see you there!

Car Tags at Parent Pick-Up

We’ve been in school for 6 weeks, and it’s time to make sure we are all following our dismissal procedures consistently! Please remember to have your car tag clearly displayed at all times during afternoon pick-up.

If you arrive without a verified 26027 car tag, you will be asked to park and wait while we verify your identification before your child can be released to you. This may take additional time, so please help us keep dismissal running smoothly by having your car tag ready each afternoon.

Important Reminder about Toys!

Reminder: toys are not permitted at school or on the bus. This includes needohs and other fidgets. When toys are brought to school, they get broken, they distract us from learning, and they cause disruptions between students. We ask you to please leave toys at home where they can be enjoyed in a positive manner.
