From the Desk of Mrs. Alligood

Dear Hornet Families,

What an incredible first week at Hernando Elementary! Our hallways have been filled with smiles, laughter, learning, and so much excitement as our Hornets returned to campus.

And now, we are ready for ALL of our Hornets to be here! We are so excited to welcome all of our PreK and Kindergarten students to campus on Monday! Their arrival makes our school feel complete. Whether this is your first year as a Hornet or you are returning for another year, we are so glad you are here. This is our year to shine!

Speaking of being proud to be a Hornet, be on the lookout next week for something special! HES magnets will be coming home with our students so that you can proudly display your Hornet pride wherever you go. Put one on your refrigerator, car, or anywhere you want to show everyone that you are part of the HES family! We are incredibly proud of our school, our students, and our staff, and we hope our new magnets will be a small reminder of just how special it is to be a Hernando Hornet!
Here’s to an amazing year ahead as we continue to Spotlight Success in every Hornet!

With Hornet Pride,
Jerrica Alligood
Principal

Spotlight on Parent Pick-Up and Drop Off Safety

  • Make sure your child knows how they will be getting home each day. Notify the teacher or front office of any dismissal changes.
  • Display your car tag clearly in your windshield or hanging from your rearview mirror throughout dismissal until your child is safely in your vehicle.
  • If your car tag has not been updated with this year's sticker, or if you do not have a car tag, you will be asked to park while your identity is verified.
  • Do not block the intersection as you enter the parking lot. If space is available, please pull forward.
  • Remain in the pickup line, do not drive around other vehicles waiting for students, and follow the instructions of the person directing traffic.
  • Remain in your vehicle throughout arrival and dismissal. If you need to assist your child with buckling, please pull into a visitor parking space after leaving the pickup line.
  • Parents may not walk up to the front entrance to drop off or pick up students.
