From the Desk of Mrs. Alligood

Dear Hornet Families,
This is a reminder that next week, Hernando Elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week (October 27–31)—a time for students across the nation to learn about the importance of making healthy, safe, and drug-free choices. This year’s theme, “Life is a Puzzle, Solve it Drug Free!”, reminds us that every decision we make is a piece of the bigger picture of who we become.
Throughout the week, our Hornets will take part in classroom discussions and fun dress-up days that help promote the message of living drug free and making positive choices every day. Here’s a reminder of our daily themes:
  • Monday: “Be Red-y to live Drug Free!” – Wear Red
  • Tuesday: “We don’t need drugs to make us sparkle!” – Wear your Bling
  • Wednesday: “Winners choose to be drug free!” – Wear your favorite sports attire
  • Thursday: “Swap out drugs for a better life!”Students dress as teachers and teachers dress as students
  • Friday: “A drug-free life is the missing piece to a happy story!” – Dress as your favorite storybook character
All outfits must be school appropriate.
At Hernando Elementary, we take pride in helping our students build lifelong habits that support healthy minds and bodies. Thank you for joining us in reinforcing these important lessons at home and encouraging your child to participate in our spirit days. Together, we can help our Hornets grow up strong, confident, and drug free!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Alligood
Principal
