From the Desk of Mrs. Alligood

Dear Hornet Families,
At Hernando Elementary, our Hero Hornet Expectations are what guides us every day. As part of our morning show, students recite the HERO pledge: "I am a hero. I have respect. I exhibit responsibility. I remember kindness. I obey safety rules. We are hornets!" These expectations help remind our Hornets that it is their responsibility to help create a safe, supportive learning environment for all.

To celebrate students who consistently follow our Hero Hornet Expectations, we will be having our first PBIS Celebration Event next Friday, October 10! This celebration is a way to recognize positive choices and the many daily efforts students make to be their best. Students are eligible to attend the celebration if they have fewer than three Skyward referrals and no days of out-of-school suspension. We are proud of our Hornets who meet these expectations and look forward to honoring them with this special event.

Thank you for reinforcing our Hero Hornet Expectations at home. Together, we can ensure that our students not only achieve academically, but also build the character and habits that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

With gratitude,
Mrs. Alligood
Principal

Student Work Showcase

A child's colorful painting depicts a sun, rainbow, and moon over water.
Kindergarteners learned about the moon this week. A kindergartener in Mrs. Crawford's class wrote "The moon is always there."
A notebook page with handwritten notes about planets, including Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
Fourth graders in Mrs. Consol's class learned about the solar system. This student writes " Inner planets are close to the sun and rockey and warmer. The outer planets have rings, gas and are cooler. They are all the same by they all orbit around the sun."
