Dear Hornet Families,
This past week, our Hornets gathered in their NESTs to focus on our September character trait: Responsibility.
Students from all grade levels came together with staff members to explore what responsibility looks like at Hernando Elementary. They discussed ways to be responsible in the classroom, in the cafeteria, and on the playground, as well as how responsibility helps build trust and leadership.
As part of the lesson, each student created their own desk pet—a fun daily reminder to take care of their desks, materials, and personal belongings with responsibility. See the pictures below!
We encourage you to continue the conversation at home by asking your child:
- “What does being responsible mean to you?”
- “How can you show responsibility at school and at home?”
Thank you for partnering with us to nurture every student and reinforce the important character traits that will help them succeed for years to come. Together, through our NEST system, we are building a stronger, more connected school community.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Alligood
Principal
